Sri Sathya Sai International Leadership Program for Sai Young Adults

In His Divine discourse during the Sathya Sai World Youth Conference in 1997, Sri Sathya Sai Baba exhorted, “As future citizens of the world, the youth should awaken to their noble heritage and honour their sacred duty to promote the welfare, progress, and peace of the world.”

On 14th January 2000, Sri Sathya Sai Baba proclaimed, “The youth of today are the future leaders of the nation and architects of the new society. The future of a nation depends on its youth. The primary duty of the youth is to render service to society. The physical and mental strength of the youth is the foundation on which a nation is built.”

In 2007, at the conclusion of the third Sathya Sai World Youth Conference, Sri Sathya Sai Baba blessed an important initiative in the development and integration of the International Sai Young Adults Programme, within the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO). One of the important roles was to provide opportunities for Sai Young Adults to interact and learn from senior officers and members of the SSSIO so that the Sai Young Adults of today will be ready to become leaders in the future.

Continuing the steady evolution of the Sai Young Adults Programme, the Sri Sathya Sai International Leadership Programme for Sai Young Adults (SSSILP) began formal development in 2014 and with His grace, 2,100 Sai Young Adults from 47 countries have graduated from the SSSILP.

Objectives

The SSSILP provides standardised leadership training to Sai Young Adults from all over the world, based on Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teachings. It consists of nine online modules. The modules cover the foundations for leadership in the SSSIO, starting with the life and teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba; an overview of the SSSIO; and the structure and function of the different wings of the SSSIO.

Other modules focus on fundamentals of spirituality as it relates to leadership, based on Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Mahavakya or great instruction, “To Be, To Do, and To Tell.” As part of the training, Sai Young Adults are also equipped with other key skill sets, such as loving and effective communication, team dynamics, project management, self-transformation and meeting the various challenges faced by Sai Young Adults, while nurturing the next generation of leaders.

A critical requirement of the programme is the completion of an internship in their respective Zone/Country wherein students engage in an extended period of practicing the key learnings from the programme.

All Sai Young Adults currently serving or wanting to serve in any leadership role in the SSSIO are strongly encouraged to participate in the SSSILP.
